Welcome!

Christina Hamlett

If you’re looking for a writer, copy editor, script consultant for stage, screen and television, professional ghostwriter, media relations expert, savvy interviewer, blogger, cover designer, theatrical audition coach, or distance learning instructor, you’ve come to the right place. My credits to date include 44 books, 257 stage plays and squillions of articles and interviews which have appeared online and in trade publications worldwide.

Playwriting

Theatre has been a part of my life for over 40 years. Not only did I tread the boards as an actress and a director but during the 70s and 80s I taught audition techniques to aspiring performers and ran my own touring theatre company as well. I credit my ability to pen snappy dialogue, design sets and craft smartly paced productions to all of those seasons spent onstage. Playwriting has always been a particular passion and I’m honored to be associated with the U.K.’s Silver Birchington (https://www.silverbirchingtonplays.com), Pioneer Drama Service (https://www.pioneerdrama.com), PLAYS (https://www.playsmagazine.com), Brooklyn Publishers (https://www.brookpub.com), Eldridge Plays and Musicals (https://www.histage.com), Heartland Plays (https://heartlandplays.com) and Stageplays (https://www.stageplays.com). My scripts for teens and adults span the breadth of comedies, dramas, spoofs, adaptations, historical pieces, monologues, one-acts and full-length. My latest project for Silver Birchington has been a collection of new “Gatsby-esque” monologues which tap the resurgence of interest in Fitzgerald’s novel now that it has entered public domain. Business Books & Articles

My major at university was Communications with an emphasis on Audience Analysis and Message Design. In a nutshell, this means that if you know who your target audience is, you can craft an effective message which will resonate with them and encourage them to open their minds, their hearts and even their wallets. My area of specialization has led me to a number of wonderful opportunities in all aspects of media and public speaking, along with the publication of several books for entrepreneurs, sole proprietors and creatives of all ages.

I’ve also penned a broad range of articles for print and online publications. Topics include national and global travel, business dynamics and management, interpersonal communications, charitable organizations, media relations, the performing arts and even cooking. Samples available upon request.

Project Management

When I was in school, I was never chosen to be a team captain in sports. This is largely because I had no athletic abilities whatsoever. I’d more likely have been the girl sitting under a tree in left field, reading a book, and hoping the ball didn’t come my way before the bell rang, signaling P.E. was over. As an adult, I’ve often stepped into leadership roles which ranged from recruiting and training talent, organizing fundraisers, chairing committees, managing calendars and handling finances.

Certainly the role which most expanded my mental margins was the creation and management of my touring theatre company, The Hamlett Players. Along with writing all the scripts we performed, I was always on the quest for finding new actors every season, running rehearsals, booking venues and handling PR. To this day I maintain that if one can bring out the best in actors, one can bring out the best in anyone.

My project management skills have also been put to good use in my various stints as an editor, most notably for Best Version Media which publishes community lifestyle magazines across the U.S. I’m especially proud of La Canada Flintridge Neighbors which required me to identify local families to feature each month, curate and coordinate submissions from freelance writers, coordinate photo shoots, and edit the advertorial content of the magazine’s advertisers.

Photography

Ever since I got my first Brownie camera and flash cubes at age 10, I’ve loved photography. Over the years, the advance to better cameras and the accessibility of photo-shopping tools have expanded my expertise. Samples of my work can be found in my online gallery at https://hamlett.picfair.com. These includes images from travels, gourmet cooking. architecture, nature, and the world’s cutest dog. Coupled with graphic design experience, I often incorporate my own photographs into commercial book covers.

Consulting

Along with the online classes I teach in playwriting, screenwriting and writing for television, I mentor writers of all ages and at all stages of their careers. I also provide insights and analysis of marketing campaigns for entrepreneurs and small businesses.
